Kaitie Sly, Owner of Steel Vibrations Inc., has been honing her musical talents since the age of eight. An original student of the Lebeau-Petersen Productions music academy, she has the training required to play many musical genres.

Kaitie started performing at clubs and bars at a young age when the rock band, Scottish Fish, was formed in 1996. She covered the keyboards, flute and vocals for 6 years with this quartet. It is with this band that Kaitie begun to developed the performing skills and stage leadership she has today. Sly has performed on the educational film: Kids Talk Diabetes with Scottish Fish which won the 2001 Freddy Award in New York City.

In 2002, Sly earned the bass anchor position in the Vic High R&B Band, one of Victoria’s higly acclaimed success stories. Under the tutelage of Eric Emde, she learned the hard work and dedication required to succeed in the music industry, and it allowed her to sit in with the 12 piece show band, The Midnights. Upon graduation from Vic High, she was awarded for Outstanding Music Achievement.

Kaitie helped formed the rock-pop band, Black Tie Social in 2003, where she played bass and sang back-up vocals. In 2005, Black Tie recorded an EP at Infinity Studios, run by Adam Sutherland, and played at the “Much Does Victoria” gig in August, 2005, along-side bands like Kincaide, Kuba, Moka Only, and Current Swell.

After graduating from Lebeau-Petersen Music Academy, Kaitie eventually took over the bass guitar teaching position for two years before opening up her own school in 2007: Steel Vibrations Inc. in Oak Bay, Victoria, BC.

Miss Sly has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many great musical mentors namely Robbie King (the Supremes), Gene Hardy, Louise Rose, Anita Bonkowski, Connie Lebeau, Neils Petersen, Martha Reeves, John Gogo, The Swollen Members, Bill Johnson, Nick Blaskow, DB Clifford, Rick May, Justin Hewitt, Paul Wainright, members of Jacksoul, KC Porter, and many more.

Kaitie’s future in music is very optimistic as she is currently attending school for bass at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California.
