September 23rd, 2009Hello from LA!!! I just wanted to leave a quick post to let everyone and anyone who keeps up with this site know that I arrived safely in LA and am getting geared up to commence studies at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood.
Here is a short home video of me playing along with Teen Town by Weather Report. The bass line in Teen Town was played by the legendary Jaco Pastorius, who was a pioneer on bass in his time, and in our time. He was and is arguably the best bassist in the world. Something that is really interesting about this song is that the melody of the tune is played with the bass, which is a very different thing to do in the musical world..

I am off to LA to attend the Musicians Institute for bass guitar. I will continue teaching lessons in LA, but am finished teaching in Victoria for the time being.
